Palmdale Announces New Parking Restrictions and Street Sweeping Enforcement
Palmdale, CA – The City of Palmdale is pleased to announce the selection of a vendor for street sweeping enforcement signage, marking a significant step toward enhancing the sanitary conditions of our streets. This announcement comes as part of the City’s ongoing efforts to improve community infrastructure and promote a cleaner environment.

“Street sweeping enforcement is essential for the overall cleanliness and safety of our City,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “By adopting these measures, which will now require residents to move their cars on street sweeping days, we are taking proactive steps to mitigate potential risks of flooding caused by accumulation of debris and other vegetation and to improve the quality of life for our community.”

At the City Council meeting on Feb. 21, the City awarded a construction agreement with Square Signs, LLC, for “no parking during street sweeping” signs to be installed. Beginning immediately, the project is expected to span 100 business days. Installation will occur Monday through Friday, with an anticipated completion in September.

Calling all Artists: Submit your Proposals for the Palmdale Amphitheater Mural Project
PALMDALE, CA – The City of Palmdale invites artists to make their mark on the Palmdale Amphitheater at Marie Kerr Park — the Antelope Valley’s premier outdoor entertainment venue. The City is commissioning a mural that reflects the heart and soul of Palmdale to adorn the building facing the property’s interior, spanning 17 feet in height and 39 feet in width.

“Your City Council is committed to beautification efforts and creating attractive public spaces for all residents to enjoy,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “I encourage all artists to consider submitting applications for this mural project, as it is an excellent way to showcase creative talents while leaving a lasting impression on one of Palmdale’s most prominent facilities.”

The following themes, identified through a survey conducted by the City, emerged as favorites among community members and should be represented in submissions: 1) Desert landscapes including Joshua trees, yucca trees, poppies and lakes, or 2) Palmdale’s scenic views encompassing mountains, sunsets, sunrises, stars, foothills and blue skies.

Breast Milk Donation Drive to Support Babies in Need This Sunday May 19th
AVMC is 1 of only 4 designated milk collection sites in Los Angeles County

LANCASTER, CA - Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC) is partnering with the Mother’s Milk Bank to host a breast milk drive from 11:00AM to 2:00PM on Sunday May 19, 2024. The event will be located at AVMC’s Community Resource Center at 44151 15th Street West, Lancaster, CA 93534 (next to City of Hope).

Antelope Valley Medical Center is home to the region’s only level 3B neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), which cares for more than 400 premature or ill newborns annually. The specialized care these tiny patients receive includes health-boosting breast milk, preferably from their own mothers. However, when the mother has a low milk supply; is ill; on certain medications, or in cases of adoption or surrogacy, breast milk donated by other nursing mothers can be lifesaving. Research shows that breast milk promotes brain development, lowers respiratory infections, builds and boosts the immune system, and lowers the risk of asthma, SIDS, obesity, and type 2 diabetes.
