| Palmdale Hosts Free E-Waste Recycling Event, Giving Electronics a Second Life |
The City of Palmdale is helping residents give their old electronics a second life at a free drive-thru recycling event on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the northwest parking lot of the Palmdale Transportation Center, located at 39000 Clock Tower Plaza Dr.
This convenient, stay-in-your-car event makes it easy for residents to responsibly dispose of outdated or broken tech while keeping harmful e-waste out of local landfills. Accepted items include laptops, tablets, cell phones, monitors, phone batteries, cables, wires and other devices. Please note that batteries, lightbulbs, medical waste and other hazardous materials will not be accepted at this event. All items will be properly recycled free of charge, preventing toxic materials from potentially contaminating soil and water supplies.
“We’re proud to make it easy for every family to do their part in protecting our environment,” said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. “We’re ensuring that our residents have access to responsible recycling while supporting meaningful employment opportunities for individuals working to transform their lives.”

The event is presented in partnership with Homeboy Electronics Recycling, which provides on-the-job training and employment for people who face systemic barriers to work, along with gang rehabilitation and re-entry program support.
Palmdale regularly hosts community recycling events to help residents properly dispose of hazardous materials and works with certified organizations, like Homeboy Electronics, to ensure e-waste is handled responsibly and that valuable materials are recovered and reused.
The drive-thru event is open to all residents within the city limits and does not require an appointment. Simply pull up, pop your trunk and let the team handle the rest.
For more information about the event, contact the City’s Innovation and Environmental division at EnviroTech@cityofpalmdaleca.gov or 661/267-5300.
