Palmdale Code Enforcement Officers Commended for Swift Action in Addressing DUI Incident
Palmdale, CA – The City of Palmdale is proud to recognize three dedicated Code Enforcement officers for their quick thinking and proactive approach in preventing a dangerous situation.

On Thursday, April 25, while stopping for a bite to eat at In-N-Out Burger near 2nd St. East, the officers observed a man who appeared unresponsive in an SUV in the drive-thru line. Reacting swiftly, they approached the vehicle to assess the scene.

Despite attempts to rouse the individual, the man remained unconscious. Without hesitation, one officer utilized their handheld radio to alert the Sheriff’s Department, while another officer safely placed the vehicle in park and removed the keys from the ignition. They woke the man up and noticed a strong smell of alcohol coming from him. Once awake, the man immediately started to look for his personal belongings and keys in an attempt to leave the scene.

Through quick intervention, the officers successfully prevented him from continuing to drive under the influence. The man was arrested with a blood alcohol content of .24 and had a prior DUI conviction.

Palmdale Invites Residents to Shape Public Safety Future Through Community Survey
Palmdale, CA – Are you interested in strengthening the relationship between law enforcement and your neighborhood? The City of Palmdale invites residents to participate in a vital initiative to assist local authorities in better understanding and meeting residents’ needs while enhancing processes and reputation.

The Community Survey on Public Safety and Law Enforcement is an anonymous questionnaire that focuses on four key components: assessing the level of engagement between authorities and the community, gathering feedback on perceptions of safety and security within the City, evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of law enforcement operations and understanding residents’ experiences and satisfaction levels when interacting with deputies.

“While Palmdale remains committed to providing top-tier public safety services, we recognize the invaluable insights our residents possess,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “Please take five minutes to participate in the survey and play an active role in shaping our law enforcement practices.”

The survey questions were developed by the U.S. Department of Justice and Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office), with the support of ICF International and law enforcement experts. Responses are confidential, and participants may skip any questions they do not feel comfortable answering. There are no right or wrong answers; every response is valuable in painting a comprehensive picture of perceptions and needs.
