Palmdale Hosts Public Safety Workshops during National Consumer Protection Week |
PALMDALE, CA – In partnership with the Federal Trade Commission, the City of Palmdale is proud to observe National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) from March 3-March 9. During NCPW, community members have the opportunity to learn about consumer rights and how to protect themselves against scams.
Palmdale’s Public Safety team will host a series of informative presentations to empower community members. These sessions will cover essential topics related to consumer protection.
“Our objective is to enable individuals in Palmdale to identify, report and avoid issues such as identity theft, scams and fraud,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “The City places a high priority on public safety, and we look forward to residents participating in the educational sessions.”

City of Palmdale Confronts Retail Theft with Partnership in the Antelope Valley Organized Retail Crime (AVORC) Program |
PALMDALE, CA – The City of Palmdale is taking an aggressive stance against retail theft through various enhanced efforts, including its ongoing involvement in the Antelope Valley Organized Retail Crime (AVORC) Program. AVORC is a vital platform for sharing information among Antelope Valley retailers, law enforcement and elected officials.
“The City of Palmdale is proud to be a part of uniting local businesses and law enforcement partners to combat retail theft,” said Mayor Austin Bishop. “By fostering collaboration and sharing resources through programs like AVORC, we actively seek new ways to strengthen resilience against criminal activities and invest in the security of our community.”
Quarterly meetings organized by the City’s Public Safety department have fostered collaboration and dialogue among stakeholders in the fight against retail theft. These gatherings have brought together state and local elected officials and retailers spanning California, Nevada and Arizona to discuss increased crime-prevention efforts. AVORC gathers on pertinent legislative matters, including establishing a united front in response to assembly bills and voter-approved propositions directly impacting retail theft laws.

City of Lancaster Introduces PoppyFi, Free WiFi Powered by Poppy at Local Parks |

On National Slam the Scam Day and throughout the year, we give you the tools to recognize Social Security-related scams and stop scammers from stealing your money and personal information.
Help protect your loved ones and people in your community this Slam the Scam Day by:
- Educating them about government imposter scams. Let them know they shouldn’t be embarrassed to report if they shared personal information or suffered a financial loss. It is important to report the scam as quickly as possible.
- Sharing our Scam Alert fact sheet and helping educate others about how to protect themselves.
Report Social Security-related scams to the Social Security Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

Brand New Multimedia Studio Opening on Lancaster BLVD |
Lancaster, CA - The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) is excited to announce Studio 606, the newest addition to MOAH:CEDAR’s campus. Equipped with music recording, podcasting, and audio production facilities, Studio 606 is a collaborative project and creative space made with the community in mind. Join us at Studio 606, 606 W Lancaster Blvd. Lancaster CA, 93534, for our opening ceremony and ribbon cutting on February 21, 2024 at 10 a.m.
Conceptualized in 2020, Studio 606 was created to echo the efforts of the CEDAR campus, honoring the museum’s dedication to self-expression and creativity for the Antelope Valley community. Studio 606 is intended to give people the opportunity to create original stories, in their own backyard. The museum believes in the power of giving the community autonomy over their own narrative as a place of cultural significance to its residents.
Additionally, MOAH would like to introduce an in-house podcast recorded at Studio 606, MOAH Muse, as a gateway to the world of creativity, hosted by museum curators, art enthusiasts, and cultural connoisseurs.
